Taylon Sumners joined the firm as an Attorney-at-Law in 2020. She completed her Juris Doctor at Washburn University School of Law, where she graduated with Dean’s Honors and passed the Missouri Bar Exam with a score in the 90th percentile. Taylon represents clients facing serious criminal offenses including murder, drug-related charges, sex offenses and DUIs and is licensed in Federal Court with the Western District of Missouri. She has been with the firm since 2015 and worked as a Legal Assistant while attending school.
While at Washburn, Taylon was President and Founding Member of the Criminal Law Society and Outreach Coordinator for the Women’s Legal Forum. She was selected for the Order of the Barristers, a national honorary society that represents the highest honor a student can attain for distinction in oral advocacy. Washburn University is a charter member of The Order. In addition, Taylon participated in the American Association for Justice Trial Team, served on the Kansas Pre-Trial Justice Task Force which advocates for bail reform, and was a Legal Intern for the Johnson County Youth Court program.
Taylon earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Nebraska Wesleyan University. While there, she volunteered teaching inmates at the Nebraska Correctional Center. As an undergraduate, she was selected for Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities.
A native of Aurora, Missouri, Taylon’s family owns and operates Service Vending Company.
