Missouri’s Move Over Law-Utility Workers Are Now Included

by | Feb 4, 2019 | Legal News

Missouri’s Move Over Law (RSMO 304.022) has been amended providing for the immediate approach of an emergency vehicle giving audible signal with at least one lighted lamp exhibiting red lights requiring “As far as possible” for approaching driver to yield the right-of-way. The law has now been revised to include utility workers through the display of either amber or white lights.

You are excused from moving over if changing lanes would be unsafe or impossible, but you are required to proceed with “deep caution and reduce the speed of your vehicle”. Utility workers apply to any company that provides gas, heat, electricity, water, steam, cable services, or sewer services. Continue to drive with caution on the highways, violating the Move-Over Law could result Class A misdemeanor charge!
