Convicted individual faces charges for fatal overdose

When you choose to use illegal drugs, that’s a choice that you’ve made. When you buy them or sell them, you’re making a choice for yourself, too. Unfortunately, if you choose to sell to others, you’re putting them in a position where they could overdose. If someone dies from an overdose on the drugs that you provided, you could end up being held liable. It may not feel fair, but at least one person in Missouri is facing charges over an overdose that killed in the state.

A man in Missouri is facing new charges on top of his murder conviction after being accused of selling drugs to an individual who later died from an overdose. The prosecution in the case claims that the 48-year-old man sold the drugs to an individual on March 6. Those drugs were involved in an overdose the following day.

The authorities reported making undercover purchases of fentanyl, heroin and combinations that same week. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) later raided the man’s home and said they found what they believe was crack cocaine, fentanyl and heroin. He was also allegedly in possession of five guns.

The man had previous convictions, one of which involved a homicide in the late 1990s. He is now being charged with possession of a firearm (in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes), possessing one or more firearms as a felon and the intent to distribute a controlled substance.

It’s important for you to have a strong defense if you’ve sold drugs to someone who later overdosed and died. There are many possible defenses, but it will take time for you and your attorney to sit down and work through one that will support you as best possible.
